Are You Prepared?

While we have not had any problems here in Lincoln County so far it would be wise to make plans now with your family before you need them.

As I reported to you earlier, on July 30^th the FBI and Environmental Protection Agency warned critical infrastructure asset owners and operators that malicious cyber actors (MCAs) are conducting cyber attacks targeting Operational Technology (OT) devices all across the nation. A couple of weeks ago the FBI reported that more than 30 community water systems in Minnesota were targeted in a single weekend. Now it appears these attacks are becoming more frequent and getting worse. In California over this -past weekend Suisun City declared a state of emergency after a severe cyberattack infected its information technology network with malicious software. The breach crippled critical public safety operations, including city records and the 911 emergency routing system. While we have not had any problems here in Lincoln County so far it would be wise to make plans now with your family before you need them. Don’t rely on the internet as there is a lot of dangerous misinformation out there. But it would be wise to invest some time in research and formulate a plan that will keep you sand your family safe.
