Fayetteville’s own fashion designer Juan Guerrero is preparing to make his mark on one of the world’s biggest stages—New York Fashion Week. Guerrero has been invited to open for a well-known designer, a milestone that reflects years of dedication, creativity, and perseverance.

“This opportunity is the result of years of hard work, networking, and staying true to my vision,” Guerrero said. “When the invitation came, it felt surreal—but also like the natural next step in my journey.”

Inspired by Fayetteville

Guerrero’s upcoming collection draws directly from his hometown. “I went back to pictures of nature and architecture that I’ve taken here in Fayetteville for inspiration,” he explained. “The collection is a combination of colors and shapes I’ve captured with my camera or phone—100% from right here. Inspiration is everywhere; you just have to pay attention and look around.”

Rising to the Challenge

With celebrities and fashion industry leaders expected in attendance, Guerrero admits the stakes are high. “There’s pressure, of course, but it’s the kind that pushes me to be my best. I’ve even pulled seams out completely and redone them just to make sure each piece is perfect,” he shared. “Knowing influential eyes will be watching makes me even more determined to deliver something unforgettable.”

A Community Celebration

In the days leading up to Fashion Week, Guerrero’s friends and supporters gathered at Main Space for a special send-off party in his honor. The event was filled with well wishes, encouragement, and pride from those who have cheered him on from the beginning.

Mayor Donna Hartman reflected on the moment, saying, “We are so proud of all that Juan has accomplished, and we have no doubt he will represent Fayetteville with talent and grace on this world stage. Elaine [Middleton] and I wanted to host this celebration to send him off with the encouragement, love, and positive energy of our community behind him.”

Representing Fayetteville on a Global Stage

Beyond the runway, Guerrero is eager for the energy and connections Fashion Week offers. “It’s the chance to be surrounded by so much talent and innovation in one place,” he said. “I’m excited to connect, to learn, and to represent Fayetteville on such a big stage.”

Most importantly, Guerrero hopes his journey inspires others back home. “I want young people here to see that dreams are possible no matter where you come from. If my journey can inspire someone in Fayetteville to chase their passion, then that’s a success far beyond the runway.”
