Firefighters from Fayetteville, Tullahoma and Huntsville are still on the scene of a huge fire on the south side of the Fayetteville courthouse square. As I reported to you from the scene the fire broke out shortly before 3 this morning. At least three businesses including the Mercantile on Market Street, The Skin Refinery and another business were all totally destroyed. Fayetteville Public Utilities joined in the fight by activating all available pumps to try to keep water tanks as full as possible with the fire departments pulling more than 3-thousand gallons a minute to try to fight the fire.
