The Board of Mayor and Aldermen meet last night for their regular monthly meeting. They began the night with two public hearings on rezoning request. Several residents voiced their opposition to the rezoning at 521 Market Street from residential to commercial. Each resident voiced similar concerns with the environmental impact as well as the possible devaluation of their property. After the public hearing, the board held their regular monthly meeting where Alderman Dorothy Small entered a motion to remove that rezoning request from the agenda. The motion was unanimously approved. The other rezoning request for the tract of land at 406 Franklin Street was unanimously approved after no one showed up to speak at the public hearing.
